Senior Camp - Dean Herring
July 17-21, 2017

Dean Herring was born in the pristine, southern city of Savannah, Georgia, and grew up enjoying life on the banks of the intercoastal waterway. It was a good life, but the Lutheran Church where the Herring family attended gave them no spiritual hope. When Dean was 12 years old, and very much into baseball, his Uncle Frank Pruitt invited him to go hear Bobby Richardson, the famous second baseman for the New York Yankees. Bobby shared what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and that night Dean trusted Christ as his Savior.

Later, his family was invited to the Bible Baptist Church in Savannah, where Cecil Hodges was pastor. It was there that Deanís dad received Christ, and the entire family was changed. Dean attended Bible Baptist School, and graduated in the first graduating class in 1973.

During his senior year, God called him to preach during a revival where Carl Hatch was preaching. He enrolled in Baptist Bible College, and while there he met Susie Hillman. On August 9, 1975, they were married, and God has blessed them with six children: Jason, Dixie, Tara, Georgia, Nathan, and Jonathan.

After graduating from Bible College in 1976, the Herrings spent the next 30 years ministering in South Georgia. During that time, Dean spent 8 years as a youth minister, 2 years in evangelism, and 20 years as a pastor.

In 2005, God called the Herring family to Idaho, to plant the South valley Baptist Church in the southern part of the Treasure Valley. God has blessed the work there in a great way.

Dean has had the privilege of preaching numerous youth camps, speaking at family/marriage conferences, along with preaching several revivals and missionís conferences across America each year.
